The Caledonian learns from the past and deeply cares for the future of our breed, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier. We have been fortunate in our breed. Past Breeders maintained our breed as relatively healthy and fit for purpose and we must build on that excellent heritage.

We constantly monitor the wellbeing of our breed and act when we can. For example the CDDTC recently contributed both financially and by a DNA Collection Session, to the University of Helsinki who are studying Dandie Dinmont DNA and close to a breakthrough which will enable DNA testing of our breed for the gene responsible for Closed Angle Glaucoma.
